About this app
Step is a step counter and pedometer that keeps it simple: no ads, no account, and your steps stay on your phone.
Counts in the background Step picks the best way your phone can count steps: Health Connect, the Recording API of Google Play services, or its own step sensor service. Steps from your watch merge in through Health Connect, hour by hour, without counting a walk twice. If counting stops, Step tells you and shows how to fix it, with battery guides for Samsung, Xiaomi, Huawei, Honor, Oppo and vivo phones.
Today at a glance A goal ring, distance, active time and calories, and an hour-by-hour chart of your day. A live notification shows your steps as you walk.
History Day, week and month charts with your goal and your average, compared with the period before. Tap a day to see its hours. A weekly summary arrives on Sunday evening.
Streaks and badges Reach your daily goal to build a streak. Every 7 goal days earn a streak freeze that saves a missed day. Badges for your best day, total steps, distance, streaks and perfect weeks and months. Share an achievement card as an image.
Widgets and Wear OS Three home screen widgets: your week, your goal ring and a compact step count. On your watch, a Wear OS tile and complication with today's steps and your streak (Step Pro).
Goals that fit you Keep a fixed daily goal or let it adapt to 10% above your last 7 days' average. Raising your goal never rewrites the days behind you. Measure your stride once with GPS for a more accurate distance: your location is used only while that screen is open and is never saved.
Your data stays yours No sign-up, no ads, no analytics. Export and import your history as a CSV file, and write your phone's steps to Health Connect if you like. Colors from your wallpaper, a dark theme, large text and TalkBack support, in 46 languages.
